Easy Crochet Doilies

Easy Crochet Doilies
Is knitting or crocheting easier to learn how to do? Is doilies knited or croched?

It depends on how you work & what you want...if you can, go to a local yarn shop and ask someone to show you both. They are very different and you should see what feels most comfortable to you. If you are still in doubt, look at the patterns out there...find the ones that you like and learn that method.

I think that they are both easy & I do them both. Also, many times with knitting patterns like scarves or blankets, patterns will have you crochet the edges. There are some differences though...

with crocheting, you will not have as many pattern options. Knitting has many more patterns and resources available. There are tv shows and more information online. Crochet takes less space as you only need 1 hook at a time, not two needles--less space for your arms to move. With knitting, your eyes don't have as much work as you keep all your working stitches on the needles. If you want to do granny squares, then you need to learn to crochet. I think initially to learn, crocheting is easier as you don't have as much to hang onto and it's quicker.

As far as doilies, they are done both ways with small hooks or needles and thin crochet yarn. (Almost like a thread). For your first project, a doily might be too intricate, though. It's easier to learn on larger needles or hooks and then go to smaller ones when you are more comfortable.

Have fun!
